Collaboration

A friend of mine, Carien, asked me if I'd help her crochet a blanket. She wants it finished before Summer. The days are beginning to lengthen, Summer is on its way, so we had better get on with it. Carien bought yarn in shades of blue. First step was to decide on a colour scheme and stitch count. Then we each made a square and measured it so that we can work to the same tension. So far, so good, we both have squares that measure 13 cm across.  I'm not sure how big the blanket is to be, but I'll work until I've finished the three balls of yarn I have.

  1. I love doing granny squares. Good luck with the project but who's going to put all the squares together do you think?

    1. Another decision to be made. If we use the same method perhaps we could do half each and join two halves at the end.

  2. I haven't crocheted granny squares in years! The last time, I was too lazy to sew the squares together, so I just made one big granny square. I liked the look so much, I made another. My daughters must have loved them too; they are no longer in my possession!

    1. I'm hoping crocheting them together will be easier than sewing. I've seen some giant granny squares on pinterest that are splendid, so I'm not surprised yours disappeared.

  4. What a wonderful idea- to collaborate. It's great that you can match tension and create squares of the same size too. You are a nice friend to crochet half of the blanket- unless it will be joint custody in the end- ? : )

  5. I love Granny squares too! But sewing them... not so much. I join then with the "as you go" method.

  6. Going to look beautiful when finished, when you said it would soon be summer it reminded me winter is only around the corner and going by the weather this last week, summer has disappeared.
